First of all, we talk about ENERGY, they are called feminine or masculine because if they had to be drawed, they would be represented as penetrative energy and receptive energy, just as genitals of male and female. But we are talking about energy, not genitals and just as chinese mythology understood it, it's only Yin and Yang.
Though some attributes of that energy is easier to notice with men's or women's behaviors, it's not the first reason why we are taught to stick to our "own energy". That reason is entirely sexual. Men have a genital which penetrate and by deduction, must obey to his yang energy. Same for women. This is how the world is ruled now. But you don't have to stick to it. Feminine (Yin) energy can be found into women AND men. And women can be higly Masculine (Yang) energy.
What is Dark?
Dark means primal, raw, instinctive. Dark is related to what is mysterious, what follows no logic and cannot be understood. Our instinct acts like that. It's a body message according to our survival. It may sound like a matter of life and death into our guts. Our emotions are, for example, raw. They don't follow a logic. We are sad, that's it. Like the lionness grieves when her baby dies, her emotions are driving her. So is our nature. Unlike intuition which is the immediate response of our emotions resulting in understanding things, instinct is an immediate response of our emotions resulting in knowing things.
Light, in the opposite is in the mind. It's our intuition, awareness, capacity of understanding. It's oriented to other people rather than ourselves and our survival.
Not to confond with the shadows. Our shadows can be dark but dark isn't our shadows.
Our shadows are all our feelings, thoughts, behaviors,... we repressed to please the society because we wanted to be validated, loved,... Some traits of the Dark feminine can have been repressed, like magic with the witches hunt, a lot of women and men completely destroyed that part of them to not be persecuted. It's been repressed deeply into the shadows of their psyche because of the fear. All that is in the shadows is the result of a wound or worse, a trauma.
What is the Feminine?
Feminine energy is the Yin energy composed itself by Dark and Light energies. Here are some of her specific traits: slow, wet, dark, calm, passive, cool, curvy, soft, lunar.
On the opposite, Yang energy is fast, hot, dry, loud, active, straight, bright, spicy, solar.They complete each other and in the yang, there's a yin, vice versa.
Being more "feminine" is bullshit. Because it can't be quantified. Plus, feminity as we describe it these times is related to be a loving, beautiful woman, receptive and soft in ways where you end up obedient, ladylike, pleasant and somehow like the Virgin Mary of the Bible. THIS IS PATRIARCHY'S WILL!!! You're already beautiful, with or without pilosity, curves, wrinkles, bra, makeup,... You're already loving, look at your capacity to love someone, but of course, when that someone happens to be a terrible person, you can not love him/her. And softness... Well, they want us to be soft to be obedient.
What is the Dark Feminine?
The Dark Feminine is about receiving the flow of life and embracing your creative energy, it's about dancing, playing but receiving it in a way where it's your BODY that initiate it. This is the true meaning of embodiment. To receive a desire to express your emotions ignited by your vital energy force and be so open to that desire that you translate it with your body (doesn't mean trying to arouse people... But I'll write an entire article dedicated to that topic). For example, our menstrual cycle is our dark part. And as lunar, is related to the Yin energy. Dark Feminine so. When you are in a phase of your menstrual cycle when your hormones are starting to destroy themselves (called pre-menstrual/luteal phase), your body initiate a destroying desire for you to embody. Not in a way where you set fire to your house but for example, to embody that destruction, you'll wish to pull weeds out of your garden. This is dark feminine, the destruction-rebirth cycle.
How to reconnect with your Dark Feminine?
A lot of what is dark is also judged poorly by society. Such as destruction, fierceness, seduction, rage, magic and death-rebirth cycle. Too powerful, patriarchy demonized that part of feminity. Just take a look at what happened these last months with abortion law or what is happening everyday, everywhere with menstrual blood. It's regulated with poisonous pills or it's shamed.
We've been taught to be ashamed of these dark traits. But it's part of ourselves. Denying it would be denying our own nature. It's about time we start to reconnect with our darkness.
